How to import Excel Spreadsheet to Multiple Access Tables?

    Hi

Need a little help or advice.

    I have a DBase with 2 tables

    a. Candidate Personal Details
    b. Candidate Registration Detail (reg for a qualification)

A customer fills out a excel spreadsheet with the candiate name and personal details and the registration details, then I need import the line and split it into the relevant tables, also checking if the candidate already exists if so just importing the registration line.

Any advice or help would be grateful, I'm a bit of a novice and not a coder !!

Or if you could advise me of another way and not an excel spreadsheet any suggestions welcome.

    Thanks, Teresa

    Hi Teresa,

Is it feasible in your situation to build a simple data entry form in the database itself? Then we can bypass the spreadsheet altogether.

That idea would be lovely, but unfortunatly not that easy, probably didn't explain myself enough, the spreadsheet is sent out to over 200 customers for them to fill in return, they don't have any contact with the DBase.

        Hi Teresa,

My apologies for taking forever to reply to your issue; and if you have resolved it already then please let us know.

It seems like the problem you're having is more of a business process issue than technical issue. By this, I mean that it seems a little inefficient to send a spreadsheet to 200 people for the purpose of filling out responses to some questions. In my opinion, a better approach would be to send them a form that they can fill in and either mail or email back to you, and then just set up a database on your end that you can enter the information into.

If doing the data entry on your end is not a feasible option and you must use the spreadsheet, then attach a copy of the spreadsheet to your response here and I'll take a look at it to see what can be done. If you do so, please also include a description of the tables in the Access database with a listing of the columns that you're trying to put the data into.
