Can access 03 upgrade to 2010 without any errors?

    Hello!

I havent updated my computer system in a long time, I was just wondering, Can access 03 upgrade to 2010 without any errors? if the OS is XP.

The DB is poorly made but im just hoping in upgrading certain things may error which would be horrible for me.

    Many Thanks

That is a very open ended question.

Anything is possible and it may convert just fine or you might get some erros. Impossible to tell until you do it.

You could try it and if it works great, if it doesn't there is no reason you have to use the converted database, just continue to use the older version with A2010 without converting (as long as A2010 can use older databases, I know you can with A2007).

    cheers,

This is something I am looking into myself. I have 10 databases in 2003, some of them VERY complicated, and we are looking to upgrade to 2010. I know that 2010 does not use the Access Security system, which we rely on a lot, so that's one thing that wont work. Many years ago, I upgraded a complex MIS system from Access 98 to Access 2000 and it took months. For a start, we used the error codes to handle errors (e.g. err 10000=Record Locked etc) and all the error code numbers had changed. A lot of the VBA had to be changed as well.

Currently I am looking for a 1-2-1 training in session in what is different in 2010:)

I forgot to add, these databases I am currently working on, in Access 2003, have a huge amount of VBA behind them. One of our people brought a new laptop, with Office 2007 installed, and the databases opened okay, but the code would not run. Not investigated why, but they did not work.
