Can't get field validation to work.

Imported Excel table of 60 Employees into new Access table "Employees" . Two Fields [code] 8 positions [name] 25 positions. Created "Transactio n" table and want to validate [empcode] field in "Transactio ns" to [code] field in "Employees" . Using look-up wizard and can't get Access to accept this connection. Help?
