Have an older access program that I loaded to a mass storage device to upload into my laptop (Vista). When I try to initiate the Access program a display comes up saying I need to reformat the older program. Any advice on how to do so?

I guess you must be referring to reformatting an Access database saved in an older format than the one you're currently working with.

Typically, there is an option to convert an older database (Tools / Database Utilities / Convert Database) to the current format.

Very old formats are no longer supported by the recent versions of Access. If this is the case for you then you'll need to find an intermediate installation somewhere to upgrade it to a version that is supported by your current one.

Never convert over your existing database.

Sometimes, there are items (particularly in code) that will not convert. The conversion process will warn you if it comes across any.

Good luck, and welcome to Bytes!
