    Form Problem in Access 2007

    I've created a form in Access-2007.

The form is not bound to any tables or queries. It is for data entry and programatic purposes only.

The goal of the form is to provide a workspace where a user can enter some data, then press a button to display one of several analyses.

Since the raw data will be coming through an ODBC link, I saw no point in binding the form to a table.

    1) My basic problem is that the form is not accepting user input. Buttons work, I can use VBA to set control values and manipulate the dummy chart I'm displaying. I do notice that there is still a status bar shown on the bottom of the form, though. Do any of you have a clue why my text and combo-box controls aren't accepting information?

    2) Am I even using the appropriate tool? Would Excel (with VBA) be a better choice?

    Thanks

What is happening when you try to enter data? An unbound text control with all of its properties set to the default should accept data just fine. It won't do anything with it or save it anywhere, but it sounds like that's what you want.

First off, I'd check to make sure the Enabled property of each control is set to True and the Locked property is set to false. Also make sure that the form itself is set to allow edits.

Other than that, is there any code attached to the controls that might be interfering?

      gershwyn,

Thanks for your help. I do appreciate it.

That is exactly what I want. All I care about is that the control's "value" attribute being set, so I can retrieve the value programatically when the user mouses a button..

When I place the cursor in a text box and type, nothing happens as far as I can discern. The text box attributes show as:
      • Enabled - yes
      • Locked - No

      See above...

No code is attached to the text box control at all.
