    Microsoft Access and VAT?

    "Version: Microsoft Office 2003

Hello. I require help with making a query for a form. Some of the purchases we make are either including or excluding VAT.

Here is the table "Purchases" .

On that I made this form

If the VAT? box is ticked, I would like to multiply the Amount Including VAT by 14% and display that in the VAT Amount Box. Then I would also like to take Amount Excluding VAT and subtract (-) VAT Amount to get Amount Excluding VAT.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me out.. This is very Urgent.... Thanks"

It is important that you post your question here.

I am certainly not going to click on a link to go somewhere else when I have no idea where that link might take me.

I suggest you also include some information about the data you're working with. There's very little here to work with.

I don't think you understood my post clearly. I suggest you read it again. Please bear in mind it is not acceptable to post your question here without including the whole question. Linking to it remotely doesn't qualify. If your question is urgent as you say, I suggest you do as directed earlier, and post the information that will be needed in the thread. I do hope that's clear now.

So, I guess you're talking about updating the values in the bound controls on your form when, and only when, the record is added?

What is supposed to show in these controls if the [VAT?] control is set to False?

then it will just show R0.00 in the vat amount column and the amount incl vat will = amt excl vat if the box is no ticked

Can you confirm that I'm thinking along the right lines here?

You need to be sure, as it effects the whole approach. Actually, no it doesn't! Thinking about it, this must be available both for new records, as well as any existing ones that need modifying. Forget that then.

Because the controls are bound to the underlying record source, they cannot consist simply of formulas. What you will need to do is to add some code in the AfterUpdate event procedure of your [VAT?] control, which works out the values from what is currently there and applies them. Don't forget it must handle setting the values both for [VAT?] changing to On as well as [VAT?] changing to Off. Does this all make sense?
