ArcGIS -> MS Access -> Map Page Index?

I have a layer (ALL_Centerline sICW_polyline layer) that contains all of the address range and full street names for our county. I have a separate layer (CAD_GridsICW_r egion layer) that has the grid system we use (see screen shot of example attached). And I have a 3rd layer ALL_RuncardsICW _region layer that breaks up the fire areas for the different fire departments. What I need to do (this is my first work with ArcMapping, so I'm very ignorant with it all you could say) is make a street index with street name, address range, and grid (map page) it falls into (or in cases where some streets are split into multiple grids, multiple entries for certain address ranges).

Can anyone give me some guidance?

Hello Mike,

The general capability of most GIS systems is to pick up on external data provided to it by different database technologies. whether that be Access, SQL Server, Oracle or whatever.

The method you employ to pick up on the data and map to it depends largely on the structure of your data and the geographical coordinates supplied by your data.

The specifics for picking up on external data as with all GIS systems will be inherent to that program.

This forum can give you advise specifically on handling data in an Access database and providing data in a fixed format TO an external program. I suspect your data is is largely corporate organisation data and from mainframe download ie: SQL server, Oracle or something like that?

The structure and sophistication of your data is the key ie: having eastings and northings geocodes to enable mapping to street level (including and I assume in your particular case the ability to focus on multiple occupancy building structures)

As with most things, the answer for you I dare say lies in reading the help files associated with your GIS program and going from there. If there are specifics relating to the 'Access' environment then come back and pose a question on that and you will doubtless receive advice from any one of the team.
