Random Report Lines Disappear When Printing to PDF?

    Hello,

I have a fairly extensive report with 10 or so subreports. I've found that random lines (simply used to separate column headers from data) are at random disappearing when printing to a PDF file. They show up when viewing in Print Preview mode within Access (2007) but for some reason are not always showing up in the PDF report. It's especially weird because the line will be in the same grouping and will show up for some sets of data within the group, but not others.

Any ideas as to why this might be the case?

    Thanks,
    Brian

Allen Browne's "The Good, the Bad and the Buggy" on v2007 would appear to indicate that this is a bug and that the SP2 service pack corrects this particular problem.

I appreciate the reply. Turns out that I already have that Service Pack installed on my PC (Office 07/Vista), and unfortunately the problem is still persisting. Any other ideas?

I have come across this type of problem before when printing from earlier versions of Access and to ordinary printers (HP PCL5 & 6). I suspect this is a printer driver issue related to conversion of an image to other resolutions. Some drivers (printers) handle it more accurately than others.

I'm a little surprised that a PDF (more Post-Script related) should suffer from this, but if you consider that creating a PDF is essentially processing the data through a quasi-printer driver, it's logical that it would behave in a similar way.

It's a bit late, but... I've found that if you reduce the pixel density (I use 300dpi instead of the default 600dpi) it pretty much gets rid of the problem.

Forgive my ignorance, but how would I go about changing the pixel density in Adobe Standard? The Help files were not much help.

Although every setup tends to be a bit different, here's what I do:
Click print, then Properties. Adobe Standard 8.x has some drop-down's. Mine has 4, and the top one is the printing profile. It's probably set to "Standard." Click edit and you should be able to find where to change the dpi. Save your new settings as a print profile so that you can refer back to it later. Once that's done, for good measure I also go Layout, find the Advanced button and click that. Find Print Quality and reduce to 300dpi. I set everything to 300dpi and haven't had any problems. Let me know if that helps or if you have any other questions about it.
