How do I show an associated name based on an ID number?

How do I code my field, that shows an ID, to show the name associated with that ID? example: Employee ID = 1 Instead: Employee ID = Bill

That worked, Thanks! I feel kind of silly asking such a "duh" question...I thought there was a way to do this by formatting the field or something...May be I was thinking of a lookup table (which I know one should never do).

No. Our moderators are encouraged to amend the titles where appropriate for the reasons Linq has explained. There is nowhere that this would be shown (unlike for amending a post where it can be noted).
