    network error has corrupted database

    Hi

I'm implementing a really simple access DB on a server. Every once in a while, an error will occur that appears to cause an unrecoverable flaw in the program code. This error crashes the DB. It deactivates control buttons and does not allow me to add new controls to existing forms. I'm getting the message:

"error accessing file. Network connection may have been lost"

i've tried compacting the DB and still no luck. This has been a disaster. Does anyone have a recommendation on how to fix?

    thanks

Last time I was working on a database and a network admin reset the server, my database was corrupted beyond recovering, and I had to revert to the previous day's backup.

But you can try the steps in this Bytes post to decompile, if your database is corrupted.

Do you think it is possible that the network connection was actually lost?

Network connections dissappear all the time. For various reasons. Depending on timeout values etc.

It's a good idea to plan for this by using a Front End / Back End (Front-End / Back-End (FE/BE)) setup where the FE databases are stored on the local PC.

BE connections are not so critical. It is the connection to the designs etc which cause the problems when encountered.
