Send a Report via Email

How can I sent a Report via Email with a *.mdb output format. Access gives me the option to send an email only as HTML (*.htm,*.Html), Rich Tex Format (*.rtf), Snapshop Format (*.snp), and Text Files (*.txt). Is there a way to add *.mdb format to the ‘Send Object As’ list?

A report is not a database, so I'm confused that you would ask about sending one as an MDB. Perhaps this is why the option is not provided.

In direct answer to your question though, I don't believe you can add another item to the list without installing some software to do the job. I'm not even aware of any software that could be installed which might add to the list.

I see what you mean when you say “A report is not a database”. Of course, a report is an Object of a *.mbd file…. Now I got that.
Though, the idea is to email a report to some people at work who are not familiar with MS Access and they don’t have even the time to look for a report in a *.mdb file (busy people). They just want to access to a nice report as an attachment or a single file report, for instance: Excel
I spent a lot of time creating a nice and professional looking report for them to see it and perhaps for them to print it out every day. Now, if I email it to them as a *.rtf or as a*.txt format, the whole purpose of creating a good Access report is useless. I understand that an Access report is based on a table and/or a query and they are connected to each other. But, is there a way to send a report via email as it looks. Any ideas?

If you have the full version of MS Office installed, just use the office links in access to publish the report with word or excel. Then you can email them the word/excel document.

You could also download a program called cutepdf. This program installs as a printer driver. You print your report to the CutePDF printer and it gives you the ability to then save the output as a PDF document.

Your needs as you express them, are probably best served by Don's last suggestion (PDF files).

Snapshots (with a freely distributable Snapshot Viewer program) is the MS recommended way, but there are so many situations where they simply don't work that a much more generic format (PDF) is recommended.

I really appreciate the suggestion. This is exactly what I was looking for. It takes a few more steps to do it but, Cutepdf works perfectly for me. Thank you very much for your help.

I use Acrobat myself at work, but i think I must get hold of this CutePDF product sometime and do some automated converting with it.
