Recordset is not Updatable error when linking tables

    Hi,

A coworker of mine can not link or import tables into her Access database files, whether its from the server or from her own harddrive. When she tries, she is getting the message "Recordset is not Updatable." I asked her to put the database file and the excel file on the server so I can try it from my computer and everything worked perfectly fine from my computer.

Does anybody know what the problem is from her computer and how I can fix it?

    Thanks in advance,

    Raza

Hi RZ15. Could you advise where your friend is trying to run the DB from? If it is from her hard disk then the lack of updatability is a real puzzle, but if it is on a shared network drive there may be a permissions issue with your friend's network rights preventing write updates. I am most familiar with Novell Netware systems, and for users to have full update rights to the shared database they would need to be granted Read, Write, Edit, Create and Delete permissions.

Hmm, it is possible that she was running the file from off the server and does not have the rights (even though she should). She is on vacation, so I will check with her on Thursday when she comes back and then let you know if the problem is still there.

      Thanks.
