MS-Access 2007 - change of entry screen possible?

Searching some time now for documents on this but still did not find
anything about it:

Is it possible to replace the entry screen of MS Office Access 2007 -
that one presenting that default 'templates' (with that big graphic
buttons) - with some sort of own HTML-Page? I could imagine, that
somehow it is possible to change this construction (hopefully not
hardcoded in MS-Acc07), like it is possible to edit the 'Fluent Ribbon'?

If so where to find infos about it and under what keywords are those
whitepapers on MSDN avail?

You can setup you own startup screen, and build that form to look just about
anyway you want.

That screen could launch other applications, or do whatever you want. You
limited only by your imagination here.

For the startup form, you can specify that by going office button->access
options.
Just choose current database, and you can set the startup form to replace
what you see.

Ok. Just the usual way binding an entry form dialog. Is it possible to
(at least) having this entry form staying maximized while other dialogs
are normal not maximized windows? In the older Acc this was not
possible. Either maximized or non maximized - a mixture was not possible.

I know that link, you mentioned in your answer. What I thought is if MS
made it possible to change the entry screen, like it is possible to
change the Ribbon thing. But obviously it is not the case. So not very
much has changed under the hood since Acc2000.

I'm fearing many unknown side effects. For example: What if Acc2007
runtime and MS-Office 2000 are installed on same machine and the like.
Is there a specific whitepaper for this kind of scenario? Having several
customers still working with Off2k and definitively unwilling to upgrade.

Access is a 'Multiple Document Interface', and as such maximize and minimize
are all or nothing. You maximize one form (say) and everything is max'd.
However, if you're not averse to copying and pasting a little VBA, you could
try this:

which will resize a form or report to fit the Access main window (the
procedure SizeFormToWindo w is the one you want. Usage: in the object's open
event:

SizeFormToWindo w Me

It seems that in Access 2007 we can conceal the "Accessness " of our
application, something which, I think, was not so easy in previous
versions and which I'm not so sure I like:

The screen shot here is Access 2007 but there is nothing Access
showing.

The app's icon is set and assigned to forms and reports;
Tabbed form windows are turned off (not sure that this is necessary);
A startup form is chosen (shown on image);
Its min and max buttons are disabled;
The form is coded to maximize on open;
Its default shortcut menu is set to false or no;
It quits the app on close.

So, one can work in the form or close it, which closes Access. I
suppose from it one could open similar forms, but I haven't tried
that.

Can it be broken to show Access underneath? I expect so, but it's
interesting (to me) nonetheless.

Some of your methods I do use for quite long time now. Some other frags
are very welcome in my lib. Valueable VBA code. Thanks.

MDI - yes. That is the point of my critism. MS did not change anything
at all internally.

Manual modifications via VB always had been possible. I am doing this
since Access 2.0 (1993? was this if remembering right). The more I am
thinking about 2007 the less reasons are there, not to use 2000 and its
runtime any further.

More than 10 years back we asked MS for a real MS-Acc compiler. If the
Ribbon now is the answer? Sorry dudes at MS. Poor progress.

The final things I will give a try are:
A) Runtime-handling (testing some scenarios to be found at customers)
B) Size of Runtime compared to old one
C) Runtime interoperabilit y with other old SW (especially Off2k)

Having no big hope.

When one considers the nature of an mdb file, the notion of compiling
it to an executable is ludicrous.

I understand what you mean. If you are doing serious development,
usually data are seperated from code. This has been done since Access
1.0 back in 1991. So what?
