    Access and Palm PDA

I will soon be purchasing my first PDA for use on my job and I would like to
(in time) create a sync between the Access db that I use on my desktop and
something for the pda. It would primarily be a list of contacts and daily
time tracking on the job site. My first assumption would be that a "pockePC"
running Windows Mobile would be the best choice since Microsoft Windows,
Microsoft Access, however, from my research thus far, Microsoft does not
make a true mobile version of access. So, if I will essentially be using a
thrid-party solution can I safely consider the Palm line of handhelds? Does
anyone use this combination? I have looked quite hard at the Palm Tungsten
    E2.

Synching Outlook and my Palm is simple, easy and quick.
Synching Palm Desktop and my Palm is simple, easy and quick.

I have never been successful in synching Access and my Palm. I think
there are utilities that are intended to do so. My experience is that
if I have suitable hardware, Windows version, Access version, MDAC,
and, of course, no incompatible utilities installed, they may do so on
days when sunspot activity is minimal, for a month or two, or until
some CRUCIAL sync is required, when they stop.

Dataviz produces and sells Documents to Go (free on one of the Palm
CDs) ,which I use extensively. It's great. But only Word, Excel and
Power Point files work with Documents to Go.

      Re: Access and Palm PDA

"MobileDB" and "SmartList" are two Palm apps that I'm familiar with. They
both offer syncing with Access (tables only). They have their own pda form
designer along with filter and sort capability. So you can't take your
entire Access app with you, but you can create a "make-table" query so you
have a flat file version of your critical data and transfer it back and
      forth to a Palm/Treo.
