    Need Pre-Populated Grocery Database.....

I'm in need of a grocery database complete with generic data. I've
been looking for some time now to build my web site's database with
this but no success finding it. I need something like a complete
inventory of all brands and products that are generally found in
grocery stores. To also have prices would be ideal. Obviously I would
need something that is dynamic via a site link to keep the database
current, but I'm even willing to accept a static generic brrand list
that is included with many grocery shopping list software packages.

Can you recommend either a free or purchasable grocery list database,
or a more superior live database conneection to brands/products/
    pricing anywhere on the net?

I would be more than grateful for this information.... ..

Thanks. Not very helpful though as this just brings up products that
provide shopping lists. What I'm seeking is to obtain the database
that they use - where do they get these compiled records from?

I would imagine they build them incrementally through the normal course of
business. Large grocery chains like Publix get product/price lists from
distributors and manufacturers, and build and maintain their inventory
        databases through time.

I doubt you'll get your hands on "a complete inventory of all brands and
products that are generally found in grocery stores." It's not exactly
trade secrets, but it's not chicken feed to compile such a list. Apparently
        grocers carry about 45,000 SKUs.

Here are answers to food industry Frequently Asked Questions pulled from FMI’s research reports and supermarket trade publications. Data are updated as figures are released.

It's a good bit of work, but you could go here
http://www.albertsons.com/store/?market=10005 and go to the Shop A-Z tab and
load up each category and cut-paste everything.
