Ahhhh.
Simply deleting the records and turning the field off auto number save and turn auto number back on. Sorry to say that dosn't work.

Rename the original table, copy it and paste it into the tables area ensuring that the structure only option is selected and you give it the name of the original table. Now that does work. At least memory tells me it works.

I have a field with department id and the data type is autonumber
now i have put some values in the table for eg 2 records now the next department id is 3
when i deleted two records and i added once again a record now department id is 3.i want to start it from 1 how to do it
