    Retrieving Deleted Switchboard form

    Hey guys,
I have accidentally deleted the switchboard of the database that I had created. The switchboard form doesn't appear when I click on the Forms section in Access. But heres the deal, when I click the Tools>Database Utilities> Switchboard Manager, the contents of the switch board show up with all the changes . It also allows me to make the changes. I would like to know is there any way to retrieve the switchboard form in the Forms Section or get to it to start on opening the database.

    Thank you for the reply

Try the Tools / Startup panel and see what is set to start on opening the database.

Sorry Saurabh, I do believe that you are out of luck. What you see when you open the Switchboard Manger, and what you can make changes to, is the Switchboard Items Table which still exists even after the Switchboard Form is long gone. Sorry!

A question so elemental we often forget to ask is, do you have a backup copy of your database? If you do you can simply import the switchboard from the backup copy into your current copy. If not, you've learned an important lesson the hard way; always back up! For a database in active development, backing up a very minimum of daily is imperitive! More realistically, backup after you've done any major changes!

Good Luck and Welcome to TheScripts!

If you haven't deleted the Switchboard Table from you db, I've figured out how to reconnect it to a switchboard.

Open up a new, blank db.
          Create a Switchboard.
          Exit this db.
          Open your original database.
Goto File - External Data - Import
Import the Switchboard Form (do not import Switchboard Items Table)

You should be set. You'll have to redo any appearance formatting you've done to the Switchboard, but your functionality will be there!

Nine job also, Linq. Another notch in the olde belt, I imagine that you'll be needing a new one very soon! (LOL)!

Multiple notches plus expanding waistline does require a new belt, from time to time! Seriously, it is nice to get feed back when someone benefits from a two year old post like this!

                              Thanks ADezii.

I'm a way from being fully fit, but I'll get on as much as I can.
