Django is more complete and comes with many features out of the box, including authentication, ORM, admin tools, security, and database management. I’d use it for larger, full-featured web applications.
FastAPI is designed mainly for modern API development. It’s fast, supports async programming well, provides automatic API documentation, and works nicely with type hints and data validation.
In simple terms: Flask for flexibility, Django for full web applications, and FastAPI for modern APIs and backend services.
